15 Years of Beer…& Such.

So hey, where do I start?

I will start off by saying THANK YOU to everyone who’s followed along since day one and also THANK YOU the all people who have followed along since day two…Zing.

About 15 years ago I was driving around town for work and I would always end up seeing classic Minnesota beer signs hanging on old closed down bars or even bars that were still in business for that matter, but just too lazy to modernize their advertisements.

At first I just accepted it as a “well that’s just the way it is” kinda thing but then the moment hit me when I came to the actual realization that there was a pattern going on here and what I was seeing was actual history…in the making?

What I’m talking about here is, all the Schmidt, Hamm’s and the Pig’s Eye signs illuminated above the entryways of all these classic bars around town …aka dive bars.

Most people would just disregard these signs as being old and skanky just like I did, that was until the day I had an epiphany and I said to myself, “I’m going to start taking pictures of these and make a gallery out of them.”

After taking all these pictures I decided to post them to the internet on some form of a blog thing but I felt that they needed to be described a little more, so I starting writing about them and that somehow became this very website.

So if you are going to talk about beer signs, you know what comes next right, you start talking about beer itself. I did new releases about Minnesota craft beers when a new beer was a big thing but what really got me somewhat noticed was my Oktoberfest beer reviews. All I can say about those is WOW! Some of those posts turned into a drunken mess…even more so than my current articles haha.

As for my current writings, I’ll have to be honest here a few months back, I was one step away from retiring from this blog thing… throwing in the towel, adios, Fin, the End.

I felt after 15 years of posting about the same ol Hamm’s things, it just got repetitive and I had lost enthusiasm for it all. It’s true, even as I write this, I’m still just kind of wondering how much longer I can do this.

I know I have some diehard fans out there and I also have some people that come by the site and socials for the hell of it but I’ll be honest again, it takes a toll on you to keep something like this up and running for years on end.

Have I made mistakes over the years running this thing, definitely. If I did it right, this would be my only job and I would be getting paid the big bucks by Youtube or meta or whoever. As a matter of fact, for a fun fact … and it may be hard to believe but I have actually not made one US dollar from doing this website over the past 15 years, as another matter of fact I have actually spent money to do this, it’s true! Talk about a glutton for punishment haha.

I have recently thought about giving it one last go and try to get to reach Hollywood status…ok maybe just Bollywood status. But to me, it seems like the beer world has slowed down from the craft beer explosion of years past when I started this site. I mean I could be wrong.

I even wrote an article last year titled “Craft Beer is Dead” and quite frankly I sort of forgot what I even wrote about, probably something along the lines of how I was bored with it and most people are drinking seltzers now or canned pre made mixed drinks or something.

Ok so I didn’t know I was going to get this emo here because this was suppose to be a post about me celebrating 15 years of wasting my time…er I mean 15 years of being on the interwebz.

But really, I’m here to say thanks to all you for putting up with my stupid jokes and bad beer choices and most of all, my terrible punctuation:...”/ *

Will I continue to do this site?… (breath in and breath out)…. I guess.

Maybe I will end it one day just like at the end of Good Will Hunting where, you know, Will Hunting, just disappears and never comes back….actually I think I kinda like that sort of ending where you don’t know if it’s over and neither do I.
