Retro labels are chic again

Well here at Land of Sky Beer Waters retro has always been chic and quite frankly, it’s the basis of the entire existence of this website.

A few years back Miller decided to do some throwback art of the 1970’s-80’s version of Lite for a limited time, and just as predicted everyone loved it and it became permanent.

Then just this last year Jacob Schmidt, Natural Light, Tecate and Narragansett have also joined in on the fun. And rumor has it that other classic old man beer brands are also in the works to release their own versions starting this year.

In a time of craft beer taking a big portion of shelf space with easy drinking beers like craft versions of Pilsners, Goldens and Lagers, the old man crowd is ironically switching their tastes’ to stronger beers. If you ask me this is the best time for the big legacy breweries to try and regain the fame of the old school beers and the drinkers of such beers.

I’m not saying that easy drinking beers are fading away, they just seem to be in a battle for supremacy at the moment.
For example, if you look at what Busch Light is currently doing with the fancy naming of “Latte” to add a little of that high class feel to the same ol beer, that’s what these rebrandings are also doing, and it’s working.

So in closing, not to give away the big secret but I saw a thing about another thing that the beer that is often mentioned on this website will be coming out with a retro label sometime this summer too…!

Stay tuned for more of that!
